Take the time to think about your life minus the things you get angry about, you may realize you are a walking oxymoron.

While it has been very heart warming to see how much money was raised for Haiti in under a week, and from what I get, it is in the double digits of millions, I am still somewhat turned off. The most cliche thing to do every New Year, is to come up with a resolution. Mine for this year, was to make sure that anyone who asks me for money, as long as I have it, I'll give it. Let us really think about this. We cry all the time about being broke, that it's a recession, and even when hunger hits for about two minutes, we cry about that too. Here is where my nerves were plucked at a lil bit too hard and the urge to end the elastic stretch came about.

As broke as we claim to be, those millions came from somewhere. Recession or not, some "broke" people made that text to YELE. Heck I sent my text, twice, and I know a few weeks ago I would have turned and tell a homeless person that I was "broke," or did not have money to give. One of the reasons I have never felt okay about giving my money to a homeless person, was because of the fear that it may have been used for drugs or even alcohol. Well here's the thing; for some of those homeless people, drugs are what is keeping them alive. Definitely NOT the case for all, but it is for some. Further more, who am I to judge what someone does with my one dollar? I have a house with a bed and pillows to go home to. A pantry that is full of food and a shower that is easily accessible with a fully stacked chest of drawers with clothes. Ever since I started this dedication to give out my money, I honestly tossed away the fear of where my money was going and realized that, heck, they asked, I had it, so they received.

The last time I gave money was this past Tuesday, and the guy was so happy for the 25 cents, yup, the 25 cents that I gave him. It was all I had in my wallet. I was so embarrassed for how little I was giving, but he appreciated it and honestly accepted it with the warmest heart.
