Black Friday Violence

A Wal-Mart employee in Valley Stream, LI was trampled to death after a crowd rushed the doors. Almost 2,000 people crowded the premises in the pre-dawn hours. Jdimytai Damour was trampled by as many as 200 people as they scrambeled to get inside the store, chanting "Push the doors in" just before the 5 a.m. store opening. He was pronounced dead around 6:00 a.m. Four shoppers, including an eight-months pregnant woman were injured. His body was used as a stepping bag, and when employees insisted that all shoppers leave, an employee had been killed, they replied: "I've been on line since Friday morning!" An officer on the scene said that even paramedics were stepped on as they tried to push through the crowd to perform CPR on the employee.

So yesterday I took the ferry down to Staten Island, saw the Statue of Liberty, went to see the fam and of course, ate like a fat pig.
Then I headed back home to sketch...In NYC, you got to fulfill your own destiny, so that's what I'm doing everyday.
