Earth Hour!!!!!

Oh Shit! Turn off the lights! Earth Hour is a worldwide effort to conserve energy. This started last year when Australia decided to turn off their lights, all over Australia for one hour. Now a year later, a whole bunch of cities are doing the same, and people all over the world are doing it also. Celebrities have even pledged to do so as well (shameless publicity). NYC isn't a participating city, or LA (of course not....but San Fransisco is!) but you can individually take part. This youtube video (less than 3mins) by World Wildlife Fund, who created Earth Hour, explains the major impact 1 person can have on our world. This ONE hour alone made such a change, it's unbelievable. Here at 21-7 we pledge to turn off all of our lights, including t.v and laptop (sadly I'll miss the Kid's Choice Awards) and do our part between 8pm and 9pm tonight. I am highly afraid of the dark, but it's worth it to help any way we can. I'd say the best way to stay occupied during this hour is having sex or playing Blind Man's Bluff. have fun!!!

Peace
& Kudos Australia! Holla!

Battle Four

I'm not sure if this is the final battle for the Dunk Wars but I sure hope it isn't. As we predicted here at 21-7, The Haze Dunk came out victorious in that last round. And now it's HipHop's turn. We got the De La Soul Dunk versus the Wu Tang Dunk. This is a tough battle being that both groups are so iconic and legendary in the Hip Hop game. I've always had a love for the De La Soul, their design is so unique, they're beautiful. As Shaheed, Team 1 Daisys Captain said, it takes a lot of personality to wear 'em. The Wu Tang Dunk is special because it was Dunk's first collaboration. And it was with Wu-Tang who Babel, Team 2 Killa Bees says revolutionized Hip Hop. Wu Tang to Hip Hop was what Dunk was to the Sneaker culture at the time of its release in '97. Plus they're so simply tough. My prediction is that the Wu Tang will reign supreme. But my vote goes to the De La Souls. Get your vote on here!

Mexico don't like Emos

There is a huge problem going on in Mexico right now. There has been a huge attack against Emo youth. Apparently many Mexicans hate the Emo attitudes and the way they dress. Mobs have been straight up jumping Emo kids in the streets. Police are surrounding the streets to protect them, but it's been difficult. The main reason behind these Anti-Emo riots is that the Mexican society associates Emo with Homosexuality.

Writer of Ask A Mexican Gustavo Arellano spoke on the attacks saying "What do you do when you are confronted with a question mark about sexuality in Mexico?......You beat it up." Many of the attackers are hardcore rockers, punks, and conservatives. It seems so strange that this culture is being discriminated against and has to endure this violent hate. Especially since Emo is a form of punk. Many of the riots are being pre-planned and formed by Anti-Emo sites/blogs and groups.

The Emos have responded by walking peacefully through the center of the cities most active in these attacks. It's really sad when people aren't free to express themselves they way they feel fit. Thank you Emos for not conforming to this judgmental hypocritical society. You guys are inspiring.

When will this stop? What is happening in the video below is a sad reality

Here's more news coverage on the "Anti-Emo Movement"

I couldn't believe what I was watching.

Here at 21-7 we just want to send our support to the Mexican Emos....This too shall pass

(specially dedicated to A-List, who's inner self is Emo)

Peace yal

Woman's Month!

This month is especially special because not only is it our most posted month but it is the month celebrating the world's Woman. Woman's History Month began in 1978 (then as a week) to recognize past woman heroes and to encourage us all to become ones. As i watched the nude photo shoot on ANTM last night I realized how beautiful the woman is. How feminine and yet strong the curves of her body are. And how her inner beauty and inner strength and will to not be oppressed is expressed in the same manner. So we at 21-7 say thank you to all our past ferocious female heroines and power to our present and future heroines! Holla!

Big Bad Barbie
I've been considering what life's like for Barbie,
The bitch has everything she doesn't need,
A genuine living doll ... with baggage,
Prostituted for K-TEL's greed.
To represent less than five percent of womankind,
Yet still be a role model for the young,
Have a twelve-inch waist, forty two-inch bust,
Be spoiled, indulged and highly strung.

I'd be wanton to be like Barbie,
The pin-up of playful men,
Action figures vying for my affection,
And (after considerable effort) winning it ... now and then,
My company always sought after,
For camping, boating or horse rides,
The recipient of continual expensive gifts,
To ensure my presence at their sides.

I want to be like Barbie,
Accessorised to the hilt,
Handbags ... jewellery... shoes ... makeup ... clothes,
All provided free of guilt,
I want to be more flexible,
A Barbie with bendy elbows and knees,
Because mine are beginning to stiffen with age,
I'm becoming more robotic by increasing degrees.

I want to be a life-size Barbie,
But I've probably left my run too late,
By the time that I've finished with cosmetic surgery,
I will have passed my "use-by" date,
I could have all of the cellulite sucked out of my thighs,
And recycled onto my chest instead,
Lengthen my legs by eight inches,
But what would I do about my bloody head?

Although ... if I really was like Barbie,
I'd never enjoy another hearty meal,
Forfeit pleasures of the flesh,
Maybe I'd forget how wonderful good sex can feel.
I wouldn't have any nipples,
To tease, lick or suck,
I'd have a smooth crotch ... closed smiling mouth,
No luscious warm wet openings to ... fill (hmmm).

And if I truly was like Barbie,
Would you ever hear a word that I'd say?
Overwhelmed by my eye pleasing packaging,
Not renowned as an audio-visual display.
If I talked ... would you listen,
Value my opinions ... cling to my words?
A combination of intellect and beauty,
A disturbing Reality ... Don't be absurd

ya dig ladies!

Jeff Staple

The dude who got famous from sticking an embroidered pigeon on a pair of SB Dunk's has a simply cool line of his own. Staple caters to the grown-up streetwear man. Jeff says he tries to represent both halves of his mind. "I can be at a Roots open mic one night and having lunch at SoHo House the next afternoon." The line is very cool. It has a variety of tees making statements as they usually do (such as their Liberation tee above), button ups and polos, as well as socks, hats, and a cool man bag. The lookbook opens with a very real statement. Peep it here. You can get the goods at the Reed Space store. or you can cop some here at DigitalGravel.com

the revolution will not be televised!

this poem & song is by Gil Scott-Heron from his 1970 album Small Talk at 125th and Lenox. take the time to really understand what he's saying, it's the truth.

the revolution will not be televised

You will not be able to stay home, brother.
You will not be able to plug in, turn on and cop out.
You will not be able to lose yourself on skag and skip,
Skip out for beer during commercials,
Because the revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be televised.
The revolution will not be brought to you by Xerox
In 4 parts without commercial interruptions.
The revolution will not show you pictures of Nixon
blowing a bugle and leading a charge by John
Mitchell, General Abrams and Spiro Agnew to eat
hog maws confiscated from a Harlem sanctuary.
The revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be brought to you by the
Schaefer Award Theatre and will not star Natalie
Woods and Steve McQueen or Bullwinkle and Julia.
The revolution will not give your mouth sex appeal.
The revolution will not get rid of the nubs.
The revolution will not make you look five pounds
thinner, because the revolution will not be televised, Brother.

There will be no pictures of you and Willie May
pushing that shopping cart down the block on the dead run,
or trying to slide that color television into a stolen ambulance.
NBC will not be able predict the winner at 8:32
or report from 29 districts.
The revolution will not be televised.

There will be no pictures of pigs shooting down
brothers in the instant replay.
There will be no pictures of pigs shooting down
brothers in the instant replay.
There will be no pictures of Whitney Young being
run out of Harlem on a rail with a brand new process.
There will be no slow motion or still life of Roy
Wilkens strolling through Watts in a Red, Black and
Green liberation jumpsuit that he had been saving
For just the proper occasion.

Green Acres, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Hooterville
Junction will no longer be so damned relevant, and
women will not care if Dick finally gets down with
Jane on Search for Tomorrow because Black people
will be in the street looking for a brighter day.
The revolution will not be televised.

There will be no highlights on the eleven o'clock
news and no pictures of hairy armed women
liberationists and Jackie Onassis blowing her nose.
The theme song will not be written by Jim Webb,
Francis Scott Key, nor sung by Glen Campbell, Tom
Jones, Johnny Cash, Englebert Humperdink, or the Rare Earth.
The revolution will not be televised.

The revolution will not be right back after a message
About a white tornado, white lightning, or white people.
You will not have to worry about a dove in your
bedroom, a tiger in your tank, or the giant in your toilet bowl.
The revolution will not go better with Coke.
The revolution will not fight the germs that may cause bad breath.
The revolution WILL put you in the driver's seat.

The revolution will not be televised, will not be televised,
will not be televised, will not be televised.
The revolution will be no re-run brothers;
The revolution will be live.

Cobain Converses

To celebrate Converse's 100 years in the game, they will be releasing a collection of converses inspired by the late great Kurt Cobain. They will have actual writings and scribbles from Kurt Cobain's personal notebook, and some of them will be distressed and worn in, like Cobain use to wear his. Not only are these collectibles for sneaker heads but these are an amazing tribute to an icon and voice of a whole generation. You can see more photos of more styles here. (the comments are an interesting read)

Battle tres!!!!

It's graffiti wars now. The Futura 50 dunk vs the Haze Dunk. History on team Fat Caps is that they were a lovely collabo between Stash & Futura and only released 50 pairs for their personal friends and fams. Talk about limited! Team the Bombers' history is that they were made by iconic graffiti artist Haze. He's historical. If you don't know him, get up on your history! This is definitely my favorite battle being the graffiti lover I am. So either way I'll be happy with the outcome, but my vote went to HAZE. Vote here!

P.S. The Terminator won that last round

You can play as many times as you'd like. It's beautiful that we can help people with just the click of a button. Globalization mang. Have fun helping others yal!

"The Boondocks" vs BET

Aaron McGruder’s hit comic show The Boondocks did a very controversial episode on BET called "The Huey Freeman Hunger Strike". It has been banned from going on air. The 20min show depicts BET's CEO Debra Lee to be a evil woman who's purpose of BET is to: "accomplish what hundreds of years of slavery, Jim Crow and malt liquor couldn’t - the destruction of black people." Freedom of speech should allow this video to be aired, however defamation of character has created a loop hole. McGruder has got some real points though. When it comes to Black Entertainment Television, I've heard a lot of mixed thoughts and feelings. But, I hope, and I'm sure BET will make some changes after seeing this. The episode may seem a little harsh, exaggerated, or as a misunderstanding of BET, but there are facts there. McGruder had something to say, so he said it. That's all it takes to provoke change.

KATY PERRY

A-List put me on to homegirl a while back, and I think I've fallen in love. Hailing from Cali the 23 yr old is a singer, song-writer, & plays the guitar. But besides the talent, she's got really cool style and a funny, funky personality to match. She's pop rock with a lot of sass. Her sound is amazing and she talks real talk. The pastor's daughter told blender mag: “I’m completely outrageous and I’ll do anything for attention!” And I think her lyrics prove this to be true. This pic of her is the coolest pic ever! She's so 21-7! Get to know her!!!
She also writes for friend Dj Skeet Skeet's blog, eatskeet.com

Here's her just released video for her poppin' single Ur So Gay
Ur So Gay

p.s u might recognize her from the Gym Class Heroes' Cupid's Choke hold video. She's hot mang!

Mad love to my new fav santa barbara biotch!

DunkWars!

This is really a super creative site. I wish I was one of the cheerleaders! But yeah, Nike is pretty clever. If you don't already have this bookmarked in your browser, you should. It features industry folk going head to head on their fav Nikes, and "game show" clips accompany. The first battle was between the SB Supreme Dunk and the SB Tiffany Dunk. The Supreme (my vote) won with 57%. Now it's Battle numero dos! Between the Original Dunk and the Terminator. My vote went to the original, 'cause we OG's in this bitch!

Argentina Art

Design group DGPH consists of 2 designers from Buenos Aires who have teamed up with NIKE on their Be True event to do some art work for Nike stores in Argentina. The paintings are very cartoon like using animals with a color palette of purple, mustard and red. The entire store theme is really eye catching. It's definitely a show stopper if you're walking down Bond Street. DGPH has some ill work, so make sure peep their site, they make some amazing toys!

Sneakerology 101

Pennsylvania's Carnegie Mellon University has begun a sneaker class called Sneakerology 101!!! A university! is offering a class talking 'bout the sneaker culture. It's History starting in the 70's, hip hop and basketball's assistance, and the overall impact sneakers have on a worldwide level. Their text book is "Where'd You Get Those?" by Bobbito Garcia, as well as many sneaker sites. That is crazy! I'm sure fashion majors are taking that, which means SUCO needs to jump on it! Man, sneakerheads every where are hype right now!

Gotta give some props

This Danity Kane "Damaged" song is pretty darn tough, and I have to say I'm diggin' the video. It's futuristic with mad dancing, which I love. These ladies are hot yet still look like they could be your homegirl. I still think Diddy needs to hire me as their stylist 'cause I don't know what's going in that area, it's bad, and I don't understand why. But I'll still say this is a pretty good video!

The voice is a little off...you can peep the MTV version here.

Ken Park

I know most of you have seen "KIDS" if you haven't, you're fucking buggin', get on it! But I was just put on to another Larry Clark directed film. "Ken Park" (2002) is about a bunch of California teenagers with disturbing lives who are friends of a suicidal kid. It's kinda raunchy, pretty explicit, but definitely a must see.

Peace, Love, & Obscenity!

Run From Seizures!

Gnarls Barkley's new single Run was banned from MTV for causing seizures. That's strange 'cause I think a lot of things on MTV could cause a seizure. But any who you can still see it on MTV.com or on this low quality youtube vid. It features Justin Timberlake, it's a pretty hot video and a pretty hot tune!

Best Dance Crews

Randy Jackson really did it when he came up with this shit. This show has the hottest fucking dancers, it's rather ridiculous. This week the crews paid tribute to Michael Jackson doing routines off his Thriller album (it's celebrating 25 years!). The best crew in the whole competition is without a doubt JabbaWockeez. They wear mask to create a unity, it's beautiful. They're so fucking smooth with their moves, and a couple of them are cuties. Below is their dance to P.Y.T.

Next is BreakSk8. These dudes are the under dogs. They're on roller skates so imagine the talent it takes, but what is so crazy about this routine (to Beat It) is the head stand at the end....absolutely fucking ridiculous....Catch this show, every Thursday at 10, MTV baby! You can you tube it 2.
