R.I.P. Nancy Spungen

This month marks the day that Nancy of famed couple Sid & Nancy, girlfriend of Sex Pistol's Sid Vicious, and the #1 Punk rock groupie of all time, was killed 30 years ago. NY Magazine wrote an outstanding article entitled The Day Punk Died, asking questions like Is it too easy to hate Nancy Spungen?

For those of you who don't know about Sid & Nancy. These two rock stars are one of pop cultures most iconic couples. Nancy was there for the beginning of the Punk scene in the Lower East Side, in the 70's. And Sid Vicious is her legendary boyfriend from the legendary Punk Rock band, the Sex Pistols. I saw the movie of Sid & Nancy on FUSE t.v a bit ago. These two had the most beautiful disaster. As Sid & Nancy's love slipped deeper & deeper into drugs, so did their lives. Such a destructive love makes you view the 4-letter word with more of an open-mind.

The NY Mag article is worth the 4 page read. The story of this extraordinary outcasted woman, diagnosed with schizophrenia at age 11, who entered the NYC Punk scene at age 17, sold drugs to Rock Stars, openly prostituted, had great style, stood up for Punk Rock, & was hated by many, but loved by Sidleft us at the age of 20 from a death still unsolved.
Sid was the only suspect of her "murder", however he died of an overdoes while on trial 4 months later. There are many conspiracies surrounding the Oct. 12th 1978 death of Nancy Spungen.
