Although I live in and love NYC, NORTHERN VIRGINIA is where I reside, and I actually love it there too. Last weekend when I went home, I came off of I-95 at my exit and was greeted by a HUGE 'Virginia is McCain Country' sign. It was weird, especially because a large majority of the election support bumper stickers you'll find between DC and my house are in support of Obama. Nancy Pfotenhauer's comments about Northern VA and it's democratic tendencies are sort of annoying and funny. Apparently, we aren't "REAL" Virginia. (Northern VA, meaning the DC Metro area: Fairfax Co., Prince William Co., Loudon Co., Stafford Co. and surrounding areas) It's true that the further south you go, the more 'southern' the lifestyle is, but seperating us from the rest of the state, real vs. fake, is like a whole new breed of reigional racism. Great job, Nancy. You're a maverick.
"Northern Virginia has gone more democratic," Pfotenhauer said last week, "but the rest of the state, real Virginia, if you will, I think will be very responsive to Senator McCain's message."
